Has being beautiful worked against you?
No, I wouldn't be here if I weren't good looking. I am very clear about that. Because you are good looking it opens many doors and makes your life much easier. But it's not my doing. You know, my friends feel my body is a manufacturing defect. When people look at me they see only my body, not my acting. My effort isn't recognized. I want people to snap out this beauty thing and notice my work. Thank god, little appraisal has started with the hit films last year.

So, what excites you these days?
I am very excited about the Mahesh Manjrekar's Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehti Hai, which I am doing with Govinda. He was the hero in my first film and now we are working together again after five years. Then there is Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, with Anil and Aishwarya. And by the end of this year I would have begun at least one more film each with Mahesh and Satish Kaushik. I am also acting in Mrugaraja, a Telugu film, opposite Chiranjeevi.

Any plans about marriage?
I don't think I can plan it. It will happen as and when it has to. What I know for certain is that even if I meet someone today, I'm not ready for marriage. My parents have come to terms with my decision. They have accepted that I'll take my own time to figure out things in life.

When I received the Filmfare Award after my accident. It felt good to be alive.

Whenever I want to avoid trouble but I’m such a bad liar that I invariably get into a deeper mess

On a blind date you’d go out with
No one. What if I went out and I didn’t like the man, it would be terrible even to sit through a cup of coffee with him.
